P.I.V.O.T

The start of 2024 hasn't exactly been smooth sailing - and no, I'm not sugarcoating it. It's been a whirlwind of emotions, a rollercoaster ride of heartache and sorrow intertwined with moments of joy and optimism. I won't delve into the nitty-gritty details of my personal life, but suffice it to say, it's been enough to last me a lifetime.

But amidst the chaos, I've gleaned a valuable lesson, and I've got half a couch to drive home my point – pun intended!

the lesson PIVOT!

PIVOT, PIVOT, PIIIIIVVVVVVOOOOOTTT!

“shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!”

In a iconic Friends episode, Ross buys a new couch and hilarity ensues when he and Rachel attempt to maneuver it up a flight of stairs. "P.I.V.O.T!" becomes the battle cry of the day as they struggle with the seemingly simple task.

Life, much like Ross's couch-moving misadventure, doesn't always follow the script we've laid out, (or sometime we wake up and realize, we are in the wrong place) It throws curveballs, knocks us off balance, and sometimes lands us in places we never imagined we'd be. But here's the thing: we have a choice. We can either throw in the towel and host a pity party, or we can P.I.V.O.T!

So, what does it mean to pivot? At its core, it's about finding that fixed point, that anchor amidst the chaos, and using it to turn things around. For me, that fixed point is the unwavering belief that I am enough, yet deserving of more. It's the recognition of my strength, despite the doubts that may linger in my mind. It's acknowledging my worth as a mother and as a talented designer. And when I made the decision to pivot, to change direction, it was because I knew that those fixed points in my life deserved a new path.

Perhaps someday, I'll share the full context of my journey. But for now, I wanted to impart this little life lesson and urge you to embrace the power of pivoting. Don't feel shackled to a predetermined path just because it's what you've committed to. Be courageous enough to follow your heart, to pursue the direction that fills you with genuine joy. Whether it's in defiance of societal norms, personal fears, or financial constraints, let joy be your compass. P.I.V.O.T or stay stuck in a rut – the choice is yours.

What does this all have to do with interior design? Frankly, not a damn thing! Except, of course, for the invaluable lesson that paying for delivery on large furniture, like a couch, is worth every penny. And let's not forget, half a couch is hardly the epitome of ideal furniture arrangement for any lounge – trust me on that one. So, while the connection to interior design may seem tenuous at best, sometimes the most unexpected experiences hold the most valuable lessons.
